@FIUBaseball Drops Series Finale versus LA Tech, 1-0

MIAMI (April 26, 2015) – The FIU baseball team (20-23, 10-11 C-USA) dropped the final game of its three-game series to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (20-21, 5-15 C-USA), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon from the FIU Baseball Stadium.

Despite the loss, FIU took the series, winning 2-of-3 versus the Bulldogs after a pair of extra-inning victories on Saturday.

The Panthers were held scoreless for just the second time this season, recording eight hits, while leaving 15 runners on base. FIU had three bases-loaded opportunities in the contest, but were unable to produce any runs.

Junior Edwin Rios (2-for-5) and sophomore JC Escarra (2-for-3) led the Panthers with multiple hits in the game.

Right-hander Chris Mourelle (5-5) was saddled with the loss, allowing one run in eight innings pitched. The Sunday starter scattered seven hits, walked four Bulldog batters and struck out four.

The Panthers will return to action next weekend with a three-game set at Old Dominion. Game one of the series will take place on Friday, May 1, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. ET.
