Seton Hall got just enough offense and strong work from its bullpen to salvage the series finale against FIU in a 2-1 win Tuesday night at the FIU ballpark. FIU (4-5) took three of four games from Seton Hall (3-5) in the four-game wraparound series.

Frank Chacon (0-1) with the FIU infield drawn in, in the top of the seventh inning brought home Matt Fortin to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Pirates a lead they would not relinquish. Fortin reached base on an FIU error and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Ramiz.

Nick Day broke a scoreless pitchers' duel in the bottom of the fifth with a line drive solo home run to left. Day was 2 for 4.
Eddie Silva went 2 for 3 with a double.
Seton Hall answered with a run in the top of the sixth. Rob Dadona walked, moved to second on a sac bunt and reached third base on a fly ball to right. Dadona scored on a wild pitch to tie the score.
The Panthers out hit the Pirates 7-4 but three Seton Hall relievers tossed four scoreless innings in relief of starter Cullen Dana. Anthony Pacillo (1-0) recorded the win. Matt Leon got his first save.
FIU continues its 16-game home stand against Loyola Marymount when the teams open a four-game series Friday at the FIU ballpark.
