Jenkins Tosses Three-Hit Shutout in @FIUSoftball 4-0 Win at FGCU

GAME ONE RECAP

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 23, 2015) -- Senior pitcher Corinne Jenkins (Sarasota, Florida / Riverview HS) tossed a three-hit shutout as FIU split a Saturday road doubleheader after a 4-0 win over FGCU at the FGCU Softball Complex in non-conference softball action. Both teams finished the twin bill at 24-24.

Jenkins had her finest outing of her senior campaign, not allowing a run for the first time in a start this season. The shutout was the 13th of her career in her 105th career start. It was also her 52nd complete game. Her season record is now 6-8. She did not allow a baserunner in the first five innings and finished with six strikeouts and no walks.

All the offense Jenkins needed came in the fifth and sixth innings for FIU.

In the fifth, a two-RBI single from junior Ashley Leon (Miami, Florida / Gulliver Prep / Auburn University) broke the scoreless tie, while the Panthers added two unearned runs after two hits and a pair of Eagles errors in the sixth. Senior catcher Aleima Lopez (Deltona, Florida / Deltona HS) drove in one run with an RBI single in the sixth.

The loss went to Taylor Wade, who fell to 5-8. She lasted 5.2 innings and was charged with all four runs, but only two of them were earned.

The two teams finish the series Sunday at noon.
