Road Trip Continues for @FIUWSoccer at Miami Sunday

MIAMI (Sept. 10, 2016) -- The three-match road trip for FIU women's soccer continues Sunday afternoon when the Panthers travel 20 minutes south to Miami's Cobb Stadium for a date with the Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables, beginning at 1 p.m.

The game concludes the non-conference portion of the 2016 schedule for the Panthers, who sit at 0-5-1 on the season. It will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra, available on the ESPN App and WatchESPN. Both teams lost on Thursday, with Miami losing to FGCU at home on Thursday, in a 1-0 result. The Hurricanes are 5-2 this year.

The two teams have met 10 previous times, with the Panthers winning three and the teams tying once. FIU scored just one goal in the previous four meetings with the Hurricanes, which included a scoreless tie at home against Miami in 2005. They have not met on the pitch since the 2008 season, a 2-1 Hurricanes win in Coral Cables on August 29.

Not only has FIU beaten Miami twice at home, but also once on the road, the only meeting in the series when Miami was ranked (No. 14), in a 2-1 overtime victory in Coral Gables back in 2001.

The Panthers are led in scoring by senior Alyssa Robinson (Pembroke Pines, Florida / American Heritage), who has two goals. Junior Courtney Phillips (Arlington, Texas) and sophomore Jacky Manteas (Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock, Germany) have one assist each so far this season.

The Hurricanes lead the country in assists (23) and have collected the fourth-most goals (20) in the nation, thanks to a pair of 7-0 results. Freshman Kristina Fisher has 17 points (6 G, 5 A) so far this year, tied for fourth in Division I in that category.

The road trip will conclude for FIU when the Panthers travel to Florida Atlantic to begin Conference USA play on Sunday, September 18 at 6 p.m.
