BOCA RATON, Fla. (Sept. 18, 2016) - The FIU women's soccer team played its Conference USA opener on the road and for the third time this season, faced a weather delay to begin the contest. After over two-and-a-half hour wait to get started, FIU fell to Florida Atlantic 1-0 Sunday night at the FAU Soccer Stadium.

The goal came in the 52
nd minute, when an FAU's Sammy Rowland launched a ball from 25 yards out that drifted into the back of the net on one bounce away from FIU senior keeper

The game was the fifth this season for the Panthers allowing one or no goals, despite their 1-6-1 record (0-1 Conference USA).

The Owls improve to 5-4-1 overall and 1-0 in C-USA.

The Panthers lost the battle of shots 11-6 and corners 4-3. Six different FIU student-athletes had one shot each.

Trujillo finished with three saves.

FIU will host Charlotte Friday night at 7 p.m. in the home league opener for its lone game of the week.
