FIU Women’s Tennis Travels to Gainesville for ITA Kick-Off Weekend

MIAMI (Jan. 26, 2017) – The FIU women's tennis team (1-0) will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to take part in this weekend's ITA Kick-Off Weekend, hosted by the University of Florida.
 
The Panthers will square off against USF on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the FIU match, No.1 Florida will take on DePaul at 11 a.m. The winners of both matches will square off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, while the remaining two teams will meet in the consolation match at noon.
 
FIU is coming off a 6-1 win over San Jose State this past Tuesday. The win marked the fourth-straight, season-opening victory for the Panthers, who have won eight of their last nine dual matches, dating back to last season.
 
The Panthers have four student-athletes with seven-or-more wins this season, including Mina Markovic, who comes into Saturday's contest with a team-best 9-1 mark. Maryna Veksler claimed her eighth singles win of the season on Tuesday, while Andrea Lazaro and Ulyana Grib each picked up win No. 7.
