The Basics
- The FIU women's soccer team played its second game in three days and dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss to visiting Middle Tennessee on Sunday at the FIU Soccer Stadium. The Panthers move to 1-7 on the year and 0-3 in Conference USA, while the Blue Raiders even out at 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in league play.
- The Panthers jumped out on top first when
Courtney Phillips (Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Timberview) beat MT goalkeeper Sydney Chalcraft in the 21
st minute to make the score 1-0. The goal was her first of the year.
- The Blue Raiders connected on the equalizer with less than five minutes left in the first half when Peyton Depriest tallied the first of her two goals on the afternoon. She then got the game-winner in the 94
th minute off an assist from Cameron Cox from five yards out.

Nevena Stojakovic (Nis, Serbia) logged a season-high eight saves on the afternoon.
- Middle Tennessee outshot FIU 17-12 on the day and 10-4 in shots on goal.
- Phillips led the Panthers with four shots and
Asha James (Canaan, Tobago/Signal Hill Secondary) was a close second with three shots in the loss. Each had a shot on goal.
Stat of the Game
During the first half of play, FIU led Middle Tennessee, 8-6 in shots, however the Blue Raiders proceeded to outshoot the Panthers 11-4 in the second half and the overtime.
