MIAMI (November 12, 2017) -- FIU women's basketball plays its first game of the year at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center and begins a five-game homestand Monday night in a matchup with Bethune-Cookman. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Miami.

The Panthers and Wildcats have met 12 previous times in their series history, but not since 1992. The Panthers have won the last eight in the series, but not since any of the players involved in Monday's game were born.

FIU lost a fourth-quarter lead at No. 24 Miami in Friday's season-opener, 77-69. Junior
Kristian Hudson (Birmingham, Alabama) had 21 points and nearly outscored the Hurricanes by herself in the third quarter. Redshirt junior
Kiandre'a Pound (Gifford, Florida / Sebastian River HS) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Bethune-Cookman won its season opener at home, 101-60 over NAIA opponent Edward Waters. Angel Gordon scored 28 for the Wildcats, who put five into double-digits in the scoring column in the win.
