FIU Women’s Tennis Hosts Middle Tennessee on Saturday

MIAMI (Feb. 16, 2017) – The FIU women's tennis team (4-1) returns home to host the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Saturday, Feb. 18. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. from the FIU Tennis Courts.

Admission is free to the public.

The Panthers come into Saturday's match having won two-straight and are 1-0 at home in 2017, winning their home-opener over San Jose State, 6-1, back on Jan. 23.

The Blue Raiders, who play Florida Atlantic on Friday, Feb. 17, enter the week with a 4-5 record having won two of their last four outings. This will mark the first regular-season meeting between the two teams since 2010. FIU has downed the Blue Raiders in nine-straight matches, dating back to 2003, including a 4-0 win in the 2016 Conference USA Tennis Championships in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (April 22).

Three Panthers have reached double-digits in wins this season, led by Maryna Veksler, who comes into this weekend's action with an 11-3 mark. Joining Veksler are Andrea Lazaro and Mina Markovic, who have totaled 10 wins each. Lazaro (10-3) is currently ranked No. 29 in the latest Oracle/ITA Women's National Singles Rankings. Lazaro has registered an overall career mark of 34-12 and a 21-1 record in dual matches. Nine of her 10 victories this season have come in straight sets
