MIAMI (February 17, 2017) -- The FIU women's basketball program concludes its weekend home stand with a 2 p.m. contest Saturday versus Louisiana Tech. The game will be the Panthers' annual Play4Kay game, raising awareness for breast cancer research towards finding a cure.

The Panthers enter the game at 5-19 overall, 3-10 in Conference USA, The Lady Techsters are 14-11 overall, 9-5 in C-USA. LA Tech clinched a berth in the Conference USA Championships, presented by Metro PCS, by virtue of its Thursday win at Florida Atlantic.

FIU is still in the hunt for a spot at the Championships in Birmingham in March. The Panthers are tied for the last spot in, with five games left to play in the regular season.

FIU lost Thursday to Southern Miss, but sophomore point guard
Kristian Hudson (Birmingham, Alabama) produced team-high totals of 15 points and seven rebounds. Freshman
Kayla Rogers (Jacksonville, Florida / Jean Ribault HS) produced 12 points and three assists in the contest, her sixth game in her first collegiate season at 10-or-more points.

Hudson ranks eighth in the league by average in steals (1.9) and assists (4.4), while 18
th in scoring (12.8), leading the team in all three categories.

LA Tech has won four games in a row and six of its last eight. They lead the league in field goal percentage defense (.374) and second in shoot percentage (.441) and rebounding margin (+5.0). Kierra Anthony produced 19 points at FAU on Thursday night. Ashley Santos posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Â LA Tech beat up the Owls in the lane, outscoring FAU 48-12 in the points-in-the-paint category.

FIU will head out on its last regular-season road trip, with a second consecutive journey to the state of Texas.
