After an early-afternoon win, FIU softball got a split Saturday following a 2-0 loss to Hofstra in the final game of day two of the FGCU / Four Points Sheraton Invitational. Both teams, struggling to get their bats moving, recorded three hits on the night, as both team pitched effectively.
The only runs of the night came i the third inning when Hofstra drew a walk off of freshman pitcher
Shannon Saile (Land O'Lakes, Florida / Land O'Lakes HS). Following the walk, Hofstra sent a two-run homer over the left-center walk.

One of FIU's three hits came from sophomore
Jackie Schoff (Bradenton, Florida / Lakewood Ranch HS), who extended her hitting streak to a season-best eight games.

The Pride's Sarah Cornell improves to 4-0 after pitching seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and four walks, striking out six.Â

Saile dropped to 2-4 after the complete-game effort. She scattered three hits and three walks, with eight strikeouts. Saile has totaled 57 of the Panthers' 96 strikeouts on the year in just five appearances.

FIU returns to action tomorrow as they take on host FGCU on the final day of the Four Points by Sheraton Invitational, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
