@FIUWBB Faces League-Leading Charlotte in Miami Saturday

MIAMI (February 3, 2017) -- FIU women's basketball will finish the home weekend with a 2 p.m. Saturday contest against league-leading Charlotte on Lime Court at FIU Arena in Conference USA action.

FIU and Charlotte have played four times in the series history, with the 49ers winning the last three outings, including the only meeting between the two in Miami as conference opponents, an 81-62 contest on January 31, 2015.

The Panthers (5-15, 3-6 C-USA) stumbled in their first game back home in 19 days, dropping an 86-64 result against Old Dominion on Thursday night. Sophomore Kristian Hudson (Birmingham, Alabama) posted 21 points in the game, the highest non-overtime point total in her career.

FIU has scored 60 points or more in six of its last seven games, posting three wins when achieving that plateau in conference games. The Panthers have also won twice in four home league dates so far this season, one win better than last year's home court league total.

Despite a season-worst .545 shooting mark from the free-throw line, FIU remains in the top half of the league in free-throw percentage, at .694 through 20 games. The Panthers remain fifth in the league with an 8.3 steals average.

Charlotte sits in a three-way tie atop the league standings, with an 8-2 record. Posting a 16-5 overall mark, the 49ers lead the league in assists (16.2) and blocks (6.0). Grace Hunter leads the 49ers with a 16.6-point average, as well as posting the top rebounding mark, with 7.6 per contest. The 49ers average 71.3 points-per-game, third-best among Conference USA teams. The 49ers have gone 4-2 since a nine-game winning streak.
