No. 30 FIU Tennis Hosts UCF on Senior Day Saturday

MIAMI (March 31, 2017) – The No. 30-ranked FIU women's tennis team (17-1) hosts the UCF Knights (12-6) on Saturday, April 1, at the FIU Tennis Courts.
 
The match is free to the public as first serve is set for noon.
 
Saturday will mark Senior Day for the Panthers. Nina Nagode, who will be playing in the final home contest of her career, will be honored prior to the start of the match.
 
FIU has won 15-straight and are coming off a 4-0 win over Temple on Saturday, March 25. The shutout was the 11th of the season for FIU. The 15-game winning streak for FIU is tied for the third-longest winning streak in school history and is the longest since the 2001 season (18-straight).
 
The Knights come into Saturday's match with a 12-6 record and are coming off a 6-1 win over Milwaukee on Tuesday, March 21. The last meeting between FIU and UCF resulted in a 4-3 win for the Panthers on April 1 of last season.  
 
FIU is led by Maryna Veksler and reigning C-USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Ulyana Grib, who both come into this weekend's action with a team-best 20 wins. Joining Veksler and Girb are Andrea Lazaro (19-4), Mina Markovic (16-4), who have totaled 15 wins or more each. Lazaro is currently ranked No. 41 in the latest Oracle/ITA Women's National Singles Rankings. The native of Barcelona, Spain, has registered an overall career mark of 43-13 and a 30-2 career record in dual matches.
