The Basics

-        FIU won its opening set for the fourth time this season in six matches, but could not hold on in a tightly contested 3-1 loss to Tennessee State Saturday afternoon in Nashville. FIU falls to 1-5 for the season.

-        Three Panthers finished in double-digits in kills, while a season-high three Panthers had double-doubles, including the first for junior transfer Sheyanne Sullivan (Miami, Florida / Southwest Miami / Santa Fe), who had a season-high11 kills and a team-best 17 digs.

-        The Panthers played three of the sets close. 12 of FIU's 23 sets have seen the final score be to within four or fewer points.    

Stat of the Match
FIU had more aces (7-5) than the opponent for the third time this year, but had more service errors (8-4) than the opponent for the first time in six matches this season.

Hardware
Senior Taija Thomas (Scorborough, Ontario, Canada) was named to the All-Tournament Team. Her 39 kills in the three weekend matches were tops on the team.

Next Up
FIU will return home to practice and attend class prior to traveling to Conway, South Carolina next weekend for their final tournament weekend prior to hosting the FIU Invitational in two weeks.
