@FIUMensSoccer Returns Home to Face Charlotte

Panthers look to extend their unbeaten streak to six games

MIAMI (September 22, 2017) – The FIU men's soccer team returns home on Saturday, Sept. 23, for the first time since Sept. 3, when the Panthers take the pitch against Conference USA foe Charlotte. First touch at the FIU Soccer Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
 
The Panthers come into the meeting with the 49ers as the only unbeaten team in Conference USA with a 3-0-2 record and a 1-0 record in league play. FIU is coming off a 2-1 win over UAB in Birmingham on Sept. 14 in its C-USA opener. The blue and gold are receiving votes in both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Top Drawer Soccer polls
 
On the year, Santiago Patino (Orlando, Fla. / Freedom) leads the team in points scored with 11 (5g, 1a) and leads the team in goals with five. Alessandro Campoy (Miami, Fla. / Immaculata-LaSalle) (2g, 1a) and Inigo Sagarduy (Coral Gables, Fla. / Belen Jesuit Prep) (1g, 3a) trail with five points each. In four matches played, goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) boasts a 2-0-2 record, tallying 10 saves and allowing only four goals against. He boasts a 0.714 save percentage.
 
Charlotte comes into Saturday's match with a 3-1-1 overall record and is 1-0 in Conference USA. The 49ers defeated Jacksonville 1-0 at home last Sunday. Charlotte faced their first conference opponent on Sept. 9, when they hosted Marshall, resulting in a 1-0 win.    
 
The match against the 49ers is the first of two-straight at home for the Panthers. FIU will close out the short home stretch against North Florida on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
