The Basics
- The FIU men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday at the FIU Soccer Stadium.

- The Panthers found the scoreboard first in the opening minute of the game, when junior Santiago Patino (Orlando, Fla./Freedom) served up freshman Matias Barraza (Miami, Fla./Doral Academy) to take the lead 43 seconds in. It was Barraza's first career goal.

- The 49ers knotted the game at one in the 24th minute when Callum Montgomery took a pass from Joe Vyner and found the back of the net. The goal came just after a corner kick by Tommy Madden to set up the play.

- Charlotte scored again in the second half as Daniel Bruce deked a couple Panthers, giving him an open shot to score in the 56th minute.

- Less than two minutes later, the Panther equalizer came when Patino broke away, sidestepping Charlotte goalkeeper Elliot Panicco to tie the match at 2-2. The assist came from Jordan Machado down field.

- FIU and Charlotte both had a total of 11 shot attempts, with FIU trailing after the first half, 5-2, then bringing the heat in the second half with six shots versus the 49ers five. With no shots by either team in the first overtime, Charlotte tallied a single shot and FIU three in double-overtime.

- Fauroux recorded three saves on the evening, all of which occurred in the second half of regulation.

- The Panthers remain the only Conference USA team that is unbeaten after six matches.

- The Panthers held only two shots on goal, both of which resulted in goals for the Panthers. Meanwhile, the 49ers had five, four of which came in the second half.
