C-USA Opener for @FIUVolleyball Goes to UNT

Match Details

North Texas 3, FIU 0
Records: FIU 1-6, 0-1 C-USA, UNT 13-2, 1-1 C-USA
Sunday, September 24 | 1 p.m. | Miami | Ocean Bank Convocation Center

The Basics

-        FIU resumed play after missing more than two weeks and seven matches due to Hurricane Irma, playing its home and Conference USA opener in a 3-0 loss (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) to North Texas Sunday.

-        No Panther reached double figures in kills, but sophomore libero Helene Thelle (Tolvsrod, Norway) collected 10 digs in the contest. She is the lone Panther with at least 10 digs in all seven matches this season.

-        The third set was the most competitive, with five ties and three lead changes, but the 71 sideout percentage by the Mean Green was too much to overcome. UNT has won 13 of its last 14 contests.

-        FIU played two setters in the contest, with freshman Molly Feldmeth (South Pasadena, California) dishing out 15, and freshman Aleksandra Grigoreva (Moscow, Russia) helping on 14.

-        The two team kills leaders, senior Taija Thomas (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) and junior Margherita Bianchin (Traviso, Italy) posted nine kills each.

-        North Texas was led by Holly Milam's 11 kills.

Stat of the Match
FIU hit at its average of .190 for its attack percentage in the contest.
