MIAMI (January 12, 2018) - After opening the road portion of the Conference USA docket, the FIU women's basketball program returns home for the first of three-straight league games, with a Saturday night contest against Rice, as the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The Panthers will be looking for their first home win streak since January of last season after a win over Marshall in the last home game. FIU is 4-12 on the season, 1-2 in conference play. Rice is 13-2, 3-0 in C-USA games. The Owls have won eight games in a row, the longest-active streak in the league.

FIU and Rice have split their eight all-time meetings, with the Panthers sitting at 1-2 in Miami versus the Owls. Rice has won three in a row in the series. FIU won its last home game, while the Owls have a league-best eight-game win streak.

FIU took its largest loss of the season Thursday, at league-leading WKU, in the conference road opener for FIU.
Kristian Hudson was the bright spot for the Panthers, scoring 10 points. Redshirt senior
Quira Demery led the way for the Panthers with nine rebounds, her highest total since joining the team in December.Â

The Owls outscored Florida Atlantic by 18 points in the third on their way to a 67-53 win in Boca Raton Thursday night. Erica Ogwumike, fourth in the league in scoring average, posted 26 points, six rebounds and three assists in the win.Â
