The Basics
- The FIU volleyball team salvaged a split of its Lone Star state road trip, defeating UTEP 3-2 (17-25, 25-0, 19-25, 25-19, 15-11) at Memorial Gymnasium in El Paso, Texas, Sunday afternoon. It was the second-straight five-set victory for the Panthers.

Margherita Bianchin (Venice, Italy) posted a triple-double with 17 kills, 17, assists and 12 digs, while
Ronja Klinger (Frauental, Austria) and
Nina Petranovic (Polzela, Slovenia) added 14 and 11 kills apiece, respectively.
Abbie Hughes (Mason, Ohio) recorded 29 assists in the win, while
Lina Bernier (San Juan, Puerto Rico) has 23 digs.
- The Miners jumped out to a fast 7-2 lead in the first set, and had control for the majority of the game en route to the 25-17 win. However in the second set, the game wasn't separated by more than two points for most of the set, while there were 15 total ties and seven lead changes. The Panthers took the lead for good, 19-18, and pulled away for the 25-20 victory tim tie the match up.
- The two teams would split the next two sets, tying the match up at two-all, and leading to the decisive fifth set. Sets three and four proved to be as close as the second with a combined 13 ties and just three lead changed.
