The Basics
- The FIU volleyball team took the short trip up Interstate 95 to Boca Raton, on Sunday, looking to snap its short two-match losing streak, however Florida Atlantic had a different idea as the Owls handed the Panthers a 3-1 loss at FAU Arena. Florida Atlantic defeated FIU, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, to drop the Panthers to 14-10 on the year and 6-4 in Conference USA. The Owls improve to 18-5 overall and 8-2 in league play.   
 
- Abbie Hughes (Mason, Ohio) recorded a double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs – both team highs – to go along with three kills. Nina Petranovic (Polzela, Slovenia) added 21 kills in the loss
 
- After falling in the first set, 25-17, the Panthers regrouped and recorded their best hitting percentage of the afternoon, .281, taking their only set of the day, 25-19. FIU, however, committed 12 of its 22 hitting errors in the match over the next two sets, to fall, 25-15 and 25-20.

Up Next
FIU returns to the road for the final time during the 2018 regular season, next weekend, when the Panthers travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to face WKU on Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. and then to Huntington, West Virginia,  to butt heads with Marshall on Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. FIU returns home to face Middle Tennessee on Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.
