Swim and Dive Announces Trio of Signees


MIAMI (Nov. 21, 2018) – Head Coach Randy Horner announced Wednesday morning the signing of three FIU commits; Julia Miranda, Lamaji Medosevic and Eriana Temperino

Julia Miranda comes to FIU by way of West Virginia University. Miranda, a native of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil spent her Freshman and Sophomore years with the Mountaineers where she was a member of the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. At the Big-12 Championship in 2017 Miranda placed eighth in the 100 fly (55.16) and was part of winning 200 medley relay team at Big 12 vs. Big East Weekend, helping the group post a time of 1:46.85). Prior to WVU she Swam at Colegio Teresiano for coach Fernando Pereira where she was a three-time national champion in the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley at the Brazilian National Championships. Miranda Placed sixth at the Brazilian Olympic Trials in the 200-meter backstroke. Miranda will begin classes at FIU starting spring 2019 and start competing in the Fall.

A native of Bosnia, Lamaji Medosevic will begin swimming with the Panthers in the fall. Her events consist of the 50 Free (26.55 LCM) , 100 Free (57.17 LCM) and 200 Free (2:02.7 SCM). Medosevic swims for GKVS Sarajevo under coach Igor Bilas. In the last three years she has represented Bosnia In the European Junior Championships, FINA Junior World Championships and European Short Course Championships.

Eriana Temeperino is currently a senior at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida and will debut with the Panthers Fall 2019. Throughout high school Temperino has been an A-finalist at the Florida State Championships. At Trinity, she obtained a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:03.33) as well as in the 100 Fly (54.93) in her Junior season. In addition, Temperino lead off the runner-up 200 free relay (23.88) and the third-place 400 free relay (51.12). Outside of Trinity, she represents East Coast Aquatic Club. At the Winter Juniors East in 2017 she competed in the 100/200 free, 100/200 fly and 200 IM. At the Florida Gulf Coast Short Couse Senior Championships last spring she was an A-finalist in all of her events.

The Panthers will host the FIU Sprint Invite at the Biscayne Aquatic Center on Jan. 5th, 2019.
