MIAMI (Nov. 25, 2018) – The FIU women's basketball team fell to Campbell on Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers were defeated in the championship game of the Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Panthers fell by a score of 59-54, with the defeat dropping FIU to 1-6 overall on the season. With the win, Campbell improved to 5-1 on the year.
The underclassmen pairing of
TaMiracle Taylor and
Kylee O'Hara both scored a team-high 16 points, while Lauren Carter and Luana Serranho led the Camels with 10 points each.
FIU was only down three at the break following defensive struggle in the first half. The scoring picked up later in the second half however, as Campbell earned a 14-point lead with just under five minutes left in regulation. FIU posted a furious comeback, trimming the deficit to just three with under a minute to play after a 14-5 run. A pair of free throws sealed the game however for Campbell, and with it the 59-54 victory.
