Panthers take on UTSA on Saturday at 7:00 ET


MIAMI (Nov. 6, 2018) – FIU will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, Nov. 10 as the Panthers travel west to UTSA for a Conference USA showdown at 7:00 p.m. ET.

UTSA PREVIEW 
UTSA currently sits at 3-6 on the year, after a slow start to the season. The Roadrunners only hold wins over fellow Texas squads, with victories over Texas State (25-21), UTEP (30-21) and Rice (20-3). UTSA has lost its last three games, all to C-USA opponents east of the Lone Star State boarder.  

LAST TIME AGAINST THE ROADRUNNERS
FIU held the Roadrunners to just 261 yards of offense as the Panthers won 14-7 to become for bowl-eligible for the first time since 2011.
 
LAST TIME OUT
FIU held tight with Florida Atlantic until the Owls pulled away with a 28-point fourth quarter to claim the Shula Bowl for the second-straight season. James Morgan threw for two touchdowns to tie Alex McGough's 2015 record campaign of 21 passing touchdowns.
 
FIU BACK ON ESPN+
The Panthers will be back on ESPN+ this Saturday, Nov. 10 against UTSA as FIU looks to go 3-0 on the network.

EARLY BOWLING FOR FIU
FIU won its sixth game against WKU on Oct. 27, marking the earliest that a Panther squad has become bowl eligible in program history. This is only the fourth time FIU has been bowl eligible and second-straight season under head coach Butch Davis
 
BUTCH MESSES WITH TEXAS
Butch Davis has had success against teams from the Lone Star State, with the head coach owning a 5-0 record all-time against Texas schools dating back to his coaching days at Miami.

LATE-GAME PANTHERS
Over the course of the 2018 season, the Panthers have outscored foes 62-48 in fourth quarter. During the first seven games, the Panthers had not allowed a fourth quarter touchdown since the 2017 bowl game. Furthermore, if the Panthers hold a lead heading into the fourth quarter, FIU is 5-0 this season.

MOVING THE CHAINS
FIU has moved the chains on third downs this season, converting 58-of-121 attempts to earn a 47.9% conversion rate. That total ranks first in the C-USA and 13th in the nation.
 
SPORTSCENTER TOP PLAY
After a sensational Odell Beckham-esque catch, sophomore Bryce Singleton earned the top spot for SportsCenter's Top 10 plays on Saturday, Nov. 3. Singleton finished the game with 97 yards and one incredible touchdown catch.

WELCOME BACK, MR. JONES
After missing the last seven games due to injuries sustained from a drive-by shooting, redshirt junior Anthony Jones made his return to the Panther lineup against Florida Atlantic on Nov. 3.
 
Jones rushed for 31 yards on eight carries against the Owls in his return to the football field. The running back rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns against Indiana, a week before being sidelined due to injuries from a gunshot wounds.

THROW IT TO WORTON
Redshirt junior CJ Worton has been highly productive this season, catching 27 passes for 536 yards. Worton averages 19.9 yards per catch, which ranks second in the league.

LEWIS AMONG NATION'S BEST
Redshirt junior Sage Lewis has earned 96 tackles this season, averaging 10.7 tackles per contest. That total ranks first in the C-USA and 17th in the nation.

UP THE CHARTS
James Morgan has thrown 21 touchdowns this season, which is tied for the most in a single season at FIU. The number is knotted up with Alex McGough's 21 set in 2015.

GOLDEN YEAR
Graduate transfer James Morgan has had a great year for FIU this season, ranking among the top of most C-USA passing categories.
