Game Details

FIU (1-0), Webber International (2-1)
Miami, Florida | Ocean Bank Convocation Center

The Basics
- Devon Andrews (Loraine, Ohio) scored a game-high 23 points, in his first game in an FIU uniform, and Brian Beard, Jr. (Rancho Cucamonga, California) added 20 points, nine assists and four steals, as the Jeremy Ballard era at FIU got off to a rousing start on Wednesday night with a dominating 110-84 win over Webber International at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, in the lid lifter for the Panthers. The win marks the fifth-straight season-opening victory for FIU and its sixth in the past eight years.

- The Panthers' 110 points marked the first time since Jan. 30, 2005, that an FIU team hit the century mark, doing it last against UALR in a 118-114 five-overtime game. The last time that an FIU team reached the 100-point mark in regulation was on Feb. 26, 1998, pouring in 101 against Centenary in a 101-74 win in the TAAC Tournament.

- In addition to Andrews and Beard, Jr.'s 20-point efforts, Trejon Jacob (Raleigh, North Carolina) netted 19 points, and Isaiah Banks (Conyers, Georgia) and Antonio Daye, Jr. (Durham, North Carolina) each dropped 14 points in the win. Daye, Jr. also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the win.

- FIU shot 51.8 percent (44-for-85) from the field and scored 70 of its 110 points in the paint. In addition, the Panthers forced the Warriors into 26 turnovers that would lead to 32 points.

- FIU never left anything in doubt, jumping out to a fast 10-0 lead, less than 90 seconds into the contest, while forcing Webber into three turnovers on its first three possessions. The Panthers never looked back leading by as many as 27 points during the night.

Stat of the Game
FIU's specialty stats were pretty impressive on the night. The Panthers outscored Webber 70-32 in the paint, 32-27 in points off turnovers, 33-4 in fast break points, and its bench poured in 39 points.

Notable
- Tonight's starters for FIU were: G Trejon Jacob, G Brian  Beard, Jr., G Marcus Burwell (Richmond, Virginia), F, Devon Andrews, and C Elhadji Dieng (Mbour, Senegal) … FIU is 1-0 with this lineup on the year.

- Wednesday's win over Webber International improves the Panthers' record to 3-1 all-time against the Warriors.

- FIU improves to 22-14 in season-openers, and 19-5 in openers played in the Ocean Bank Convocation Center (or FIU Arena).

- Burwell and Andrews' starts were the first of their career at FIU.

- Beard, Jr.'s 20 points, marked his 10th game of 20-or-more points during his FIU career … In addition, his nine assists is tied for his second most in a game, and one shy of equaling his career-high of 10 handouts, set against Louisiana Tech on Feb. 3, 2018, and his four steals marks his 11th collegiate game of four-our-more steals in a game.

- Isaiah Banks' 14 points was just his third career double-figure game … Banks finished the night shooting 7-for-11 (63.6 percent) from the field.

Up Next
FIU will have a quick turnaround as it gets back on the hardwood on Friday, Nov. 9, to face Johnson & Wales at 7 p.m. Following their game on Friday, the Panthers will close out their three-game season-opening homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 13, when they take on UW Milwaukee (7 p.m.).
