The Basics
- The FIU volleyball team began its final homestand of the regular season, on Thursday night, in style as the Panthers defeated Middle Tennessee in straight sets, 25-12, 25-18, 25-10, at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The win improved FIU to 16-11 overall and 8-5 in Conference USA. The Blue Raiders dropped to 7-20 on the year and 2-11 in league play.

- The Panthers didn't leave much in doubt on the evening as they controlled play from start to finish. FIU hit at a .278 percent clip and held the Blue Raiders to a dismal .077 hitting percentage. The Panthers committed just nine attack errors as opposed to 16 by Middle Tennessee.

- Margherita Bianchin (Venice, Italy) recorded her seventh double-double on the year with a 10-kill, 10-dig performance. It was her 22nd double-digit kill performance of the season. In addition, Abbie Hughes (Mason, Ohio) posted her 10th career double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs. Lina Bernier (San Juan, Puerto Rico) had a team-high 15 digs in the win.

- Despite the Panthers having one regular season match left, prior to the match the volleyball program recognized its four seniors – Bianchin, Nina Petranovic (Polzela, Slovenia), Sheila Rojas (Miami, Florida/ Southwest Miami) and Sheyanne Sullivan (Miami, Florida/Southwest Miami) – for their contributions. The group has helped FIU reach 16 wins, the most during the Rita Buck-Crockett era and the most since the 2011 season when the Panthers won 21 matches (21-9).
