MIAMI, Florida (Dec. 20, 2018) – The FIU women's basketball team opened the FIU Holiday Tournament on Thursday with a victory against Alcorn State.
With the win, FIU is 3-8 on the season, while Alcorn State is 1-9 on the year.
FIU was led by
Kylee O'Hara who scored 12 points and
Shante Walker who scored 11 points on the afternoon. Alcorn State's Charisma Walker scored nine points to lead the Braves.
The Panthers began the first quarter strong, with an 12-2 run to give them the 23-7 advantage over the Braves. Coming into the second quarter, FIU continued the streak into the locker room taking a 37-21 lead.
FIU opened the second half with a 15-1 run to widen the gap and end the third quarter 58-28. The Panthers scored 17 points to close out the game and win 75-40.
