The Basics
·      FIU shot 48.6 percent including 58.3 percent from three-point range in the second half, but Florida Atlantic used free throws in the final minute to edge out the Panthers, 67-63, at FAU Arena Sunday afternoon.
Kristian Hudson sparked a second-half comeback with 15 points on her way to a game-high 19 points.

Kiandre'a Pound added eight points and seven rebounds, while each
TaMiracle Taylor and
Cabria Lee had eight points.
·      FIU trailed 29-21 at halftime after shooting just 25 percent and connecting on just seven field goals. Hudson had four of the Panthers' 21 points. FIU was without its two post players due to early foul trouble in the first half as Pound played just four minutes and
Callie Cavanaugh played just eight minutes. FIU led early 8-4 in the first quarter before the Owls closed out the quarter with an 11-2 run to lead, 15-10, at the end of the first.
·      The Panthers opened up the third quarter with a 15-5 run to take their first lead since the first quarter, 36-34. Taylor, Pound and Snipes each hit 3-pointers during the run for the Panthers. Another 3-pointer from Hudson gave FIU a 39-34 lead with 4:13 left, but the Owls made an 11-5 run to take a 45-44 advantage into the final period. FIU shot 60 percent in the third quarter and connected on 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.
·      A quick 9-2 run in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter gave the Panthers a 53-47 lead after Lee made two layups, Hudson nailed a 3-pointer and
Kayla Rogers scored in the paint. FAU rattled off back-to-back long balls to get within 54-53 with 4:54 remaining. The Owls took the lead for good on Danneal Ford's jumper with 4:21 left, 55-54.
·      The Panthers got within 59-58 on another jumper from Hudson with 1:04 left in the game, but Malia Kency's basket gave FAU a three-point lead with 48 seconds left, 61-58, and the Owls made six free throws in the final 31 seconds to seal the win.
·      Kency finished with 17 points for FAU while Melinda Myers had 10 points. Raven Doyle snagged a game-high 13 rebounds.

Stat of the Game
After shooting just 25 percent in the first half and scoring 21 points, FIU shot 48.6 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three-point range. The Panthers connected on 7-of-12 from long distance in the second half to help rally from a nine-point first-half deficit.

Next up for FIU
The Panthers will complete the regular season on the road at UTSA Thursday night at 9 p.m. before traveling to Southern Miss Saturday at 5 p.m.
