No. 12 FIU Heads North to Battle USF

The undefeated Panthers take on an in-state foe in Tampa on Tuesday night

MIAMI (Oct. 21, 2019) - The 12th-ranked FIU men's soccer team heads north to battle an in-state foe on Tuesday night, as the Panthers take on USF in Tampa.

The undefeated Panthers are scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff against the Bulls.

USF PREVIEW
USF has posted an 8-4 record thus far in the 2019 campaign, including a 5-2 record home. The Bulls are a solid defensive squad that has allowed one goal or less in nine of their 12 matches this season, having posted three shutouts along the way. USF's marquee win this season came against Louisville on Sept. 9, when they defeated a No. 5 ranked Cardinals squad by a score of 1-0.

INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU leads USF 14-13-3 in the all-time series and has won the last two meetings against USF. FIU took on the Bulls last season in Miami, Florida on Oct. 23 and defeated USF by a score of 3-2. The last time the Panthers and Bulls met at Corbett Stadium was on Oct. 17, 2017, with FIU winning that match by a score of 2-1. USF has posted a 7-7 all-time record against FIU in matches played in Tampa.

AMONG THE NATION'S BEST 
FIU enters the week ranking third overall in the country in points (106), points-per-game (8.15), assists (36), and assists-per-game (2.77). The Panthers are also fourth overall in goals (35) and goals-per-game (2.69).

LEADING CONFERENCE USA
FIU ranks first in several C-USA offensive categories this season, including shots (179), points, goals, goals-per-game, assists, and assists-per-game. Alessandro Campoy currently leads C-USA with 2.9 shots-per-game and ranks third with 29 total shots. Andrew BoothCaleb Franke, and Campoy are tied for fourth in C-USA with five goals each. Goalkeeper Daniel Gagliardi ranks first in C-USA in save percentage (0.797), second in saves (47), and third in goals-against-average (0.85).

DEEP PANTHER PACK
FIU has seen productive play throughout the roster to fuel a 9-0-4 start to the 2019 campaign. Sixteen different Panthers have logged either a goal or an assist this season. Thirteen Panthers have logged a goal thus far in 2019, while 14 players have contributed an assist. An impressive total of 11 Panthers have logged both a goal and an assist.
