MIAMI (Oct. 22, 2019) - Tipoff the 2019-20 men's and women's basketball season in style on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with FIU Hoopla, at the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus Recreation Center outdoor basketball courts. The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m., is free and open to all students and Panthers fans of all ages.

Second-year men's basketball coach Jeremy Ballard and head women's coach Tiara Malcom will introduce this year's basketball team's and give a quick outlook on the 2019-20 campaign. Fans can also sign up to be selected to take part in a dunking contest and three-point shooting contest, just prior to the men's basketball team taking part in a dunking contest and the women's team's three-point contest.

Additional highlights will include appearances by the FIU cheerleaders, Dazzlers, and Roary, along with a DJ and fan giveaways.

The 2019-20 women's basketball season begins on Tuesday, Nov. 5, against cross-state foe Florida Gulf Coast at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The men's team will tip off on the road the same night, against Mississippi State. The women will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. ET, while the men will get going at 8:00 p.m. ET.
