Women's Soccer Hosts Final Weekend Series of 2019

The FIU women's soccer team welcomes Rice and North Texas to close out home slate

MIAMI (Oct. 24, 2019) – The FIU women's soccer team wraps up the home portion of the 2019 schedule this weekend, as the Panthers host Rice on Friday, Oct. 25, before welcoming North Texas on Sunday, Oct. 27.

The Panthers and Owls are set to face off at 7 p.m. ET from FIU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff against the Mean Green is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

RICE PREVIEW
The Owls have posted an 8-4-2 record thus far in 2019, including a 5-0-2 record in C-USA. Rice has posted a 2-1-2 record on the road this season. The Owls finished last season 7-9-1 (9-4-1 C-USA) and posted a 3-3-1 record on the road.

NT PREVIEW
The Mean Green have posted an 11-4 record thus far in 2019, including a 6-1 record in C-USA. NT has earned a 2-4 record on the road this season. The Mean Green finished last season 15-3-3 (8-1-1 C-USA) and posted an 8-0-1 at home.

INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU is tied at 2-2 against Rice in the all-time series, with the Panthers dropping the last two matchups against the Owls. Last time that Rice played in Miami was on Oct. 17, 2014, with the Panthers defeating the Owls by a score of 2-1 in that matchup. FIU trails NT 1-10-1 in the all-time series. FIU's lone victory against NT came on Oct. 14, 2011, when the Panthers defeated the Mean Green by a score of 1-0 in Miami.

LEADING THE PANTHERS
Sophomore Rayquel Berry and freshman Ellen Halseth are leading the Panthers with nine points each this season. Berry and Halseth have notched four goals and an assist apiece.

NEWCOMERS MAKING IMPACT
Five first-year Panthers are making an impact offensively for FIU in 2019, as Halseth, Yolanda Albalat Collado, Laura Chavez, Carmen Marin, and Charity O'Neal are responsible for a sum of 21 points. Albalat Collado leads the team with three assists and is third on FIU with seven points this year. Chavez has contributed a goal and an assist for a sum of three points, while Marin and O'Neal have each logged an assist.
