RUSTON, Louisiana (Oct. 6, 2019) - The FIU women's soccer team fell to Louisiana Tech by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers wrapped up a weekend series on the road.
FIU now stands at 2-10 on the season, while LA Tech improves to 11-1-1. The Panthers currently hold an 0-5 record in Conference USA, while the Bulldogs are 3-1-0 after today.
The Bulldogs claimed the first goal of the match when Connor Barker found the net in the 6th minute to put LA Tech up 1-0 over the Panthers. Rayquel Berry equalized the score for FIU in the 31st minute with an impressive goal from over 30 yards out, as she stole possession from a LA Tech player attempting a pass back to the goalie and fired the ball high into the net. The Panthers had four shots to the Bulldogs' five in the first period and entered halftime knotted up by a score of 1-1.
LA Tech seized back the lead after the break when Autumn Woodard scored in the 58th minute to put the Bulldogs up 2-1. The Panthers battled for a chance to find another equalizer, but LA Tech was able to extend their lead to 3-1 in the 79th minute thanks to a score by Alpine Williams and FIU fell in the end to the Bulldogs on the road.
Rayquel Berry recorded her fourth goal of the season and now has nine points in 2019. Carmen Marin led Panthers with three shots on the day. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Ward saw the first start of her collegiate career and recorded four saves in the match.

FIU now heads back home to Miami for a contest against Western Kentucky on Sunday, Oct. 13. Kickoff against the Hilltoppers is slated for 1 p.m. ET from FIU Soccer Stadium.
