No. 15 FIU Faces FGCU on the Road

The Panthers make the short trip to Fort Myers on Tuesday night to face the Eagles

MIAMI (Oct. 7, 2019) - The No. 15 ranked FIU men's soccer team will battle against an in-state foe on the road Tuesday, as they travel to Fort Myers, Florida to face FGCU tomorrow night.

The Panthers and Eagles are scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.

FGCU PREVIEW
FGCU finished last season 9-5-2 overall, earning a 4-1-2 mark on their home pitch. The Eagles have posted a 4-5-2 record thus far in the 2019 campaign, having recorded a 3-1 record at home.

INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU holds an advantage over FGCU in the all-time series, as the Panthers have posted a 7-4 record against the Eagles. Last time the Panthers faced the Eagles in Fort Myers was on Oct. 10, 2017, with that match resulting in a 4-3 win for FIU. The Panthers have beaten FGCU three consecutive times in Fort Myers dating back to the 2013 season, and four-of-five times in the all-time series. The last meeting between the two programs occurred last season on Oct. 3, 2018, with FGCU defeating FIU by a score of 2-1 in Miami.

FIU enters the seventh week of 2019 ranked third overall in the country in points (90), goals (30), assists (30) points-per-game (9), goals-per-game (3), and assists-per-game (3).

LEADING THE CONFERENCE
FIU ranks first in several C-USA offensive categories this season, including shots (144), points, goals, goals-per-game, assists, and assists-per-game. Alessandro Campoy currently leads C-USA with 29 shots and 3.22 shots-per-game, while also ranking third in points (12) and goals (5). Caleb Franke is also tied for third in C-USA with five goals. Goalkeeper Daniel Gagliardi ranks second in C-USA with 34 saves and a 0.791 save percentage, while also ranking third in shutouts (3) and goals-against-average (0.84).

DOIN' IT WITH DEPTH
FIU has seen production from a variety of their players to fuel a 7-0-3 start to the 2019 campaign, as 15 different Panthers have logged either a goal or an assist this season. 12 Panthers have logged a goal thus far in 2019, while 13 players have contributed an assist. An impressive total of 10 Panthers have logged both a goal and an assist. Those players include returning veterans Campoy, Inigo SagarduyAndrew BoothMatias Barraza, Owen GreenXavi Olmos Ferris, and newcomers Stephen AfrifaAlban RousseletDavid Garcia, and Ronaldo Marshall.

After wrapping up in Fort Myers, the Panthers will hit the road this weekend for an important C-USA showdown against No. 16 ranked Kentucky on Sunday, Oct. 13. Kickoff against the Wildcats is slated for 6 p.m. ET in Lexington.
