MIAMI (Dec. 29, 2019) – The FIU women's basketball team fell 72-57 against Brown on Sunday afternoon, closing out the non-conference portion of the season.

FIU was led by
Chelsea Guimaraes, who posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds along with two assists and two blocks for the senior.
Diene Diane added 14 points off the bench, with the junior making four shots from behind-the-arc to account for half of FIU's made 3-pointers on the day. Brown's Justine Gaziano led her team with 26 points, three rebounds, two blocks and two assists.
FIU and Brown entered the locker room practically neck-and-neck, as the Bears took a 25-24 lead at halftime. FIU tied the game after a 19-18 advantage in the third quarter, but the Bears raced past the Panthers in the final quarter 29-14 to earn a 72-57 victory.

FIU will open Conference USA play on the road, as the Panthers head to Texas to face UTEP on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 9 p.m. ET and UTSA on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. ET.
