MIAMI (Jan. 1, 2020) – The FIU women's basketball team will open Conference USA play on Thursday, Jan. 2, as the Panthers head to El Paso, Texas to face the UTEP Miners. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET.

UTEP MINERS PREVIEW
The Miners are 7-4 on the season after falling 58-51 against Tulsa on Sunday, Dec. 29 at home.
INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU trails 2-8 in the series against UTEP. The Panthers and the Miners last faced on Feb. 9, 2019 in Miami. FIU fell 60-55 at home against the Miners.
JISELLE ON THE COURT
Jiselle Thomas has posted seven games with double-digit points. Of those seven games, three have been 20 or more point games. The Norwalk, Ohio junior leads the team in points (11.9), free throws (4.2), second in assists (1.9) and ranking third in steals per game (0.8). Thomas was named to the FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament team after averaging 12.0 ppg to close out the month of November.
