MIAMI (Dec. 4, 2019) – The FIU men's basketball team faced Florida Gulf Coast at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Wednesday night. The Panthers topped the Eagles 71-53 for the squad's third-straight win.
With the victory, FIU moves to 6-3 while FGCU drops to 2-9 with the loss
The Panthers began the midweek clash shooting 34.3% from the field and just 28.6% from behind-the-arc, but the FIU squad forced 15 turnovers in the opening period and led the Eagles 34-21 entering the break. Individually, Trejon Jacob posted a squad-best nine points in the first half while Osasumwen Osaghae logged a pair of blocked shots.
FIU kept its momentum going, and the squad shot 38.7% in the second half to take home the 71-53 win. The Panthers held the opposition to just 9.1% shooting from three in the second half and 15.2% from behind-the-arc overall for the contest. The FIU squad scored 27 points off turnovers and blocked eight shots in the victory.
Cameron Corcoran recorded a career-best five three-pointers to earn 15 points off the bench during the win. Osaghae finished with a double-double, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jacob was the third FIU player who scored in double-figures, tallying 11 points for the Panthers

The FIU men's basketball program welcomes back its alumni to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday, January 18, for the Panthers' game against Middle Tennessee. Tipoff from the Conference USA clash is set for 7 p.m. ET. The 2019-2020 campaign marks the 25th anniversary of the banner season, which resulted in the program's first NCAA appearance.
