KENNESAW, Georgia (Dec. 7, 2019) – The FIU men's basketball team faced Kennesaw State at the KSU Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers topped the Owls 84-81 for the team's fourth-straight victory.
The win puts the Panthers at 7-3 for the year while KSU is still searching for its first win, dropping to 0-8 for the year.
The Panthers held the 41-30 advantage in the first half, posting 28 points in the paint. The team also forced 14 turnovers and blocked three shots during the opening period. Devon Andrews led the FIU squad with 13 points and two steals when the Panthers headed to the locker room.
Coming out of the break, the FIU shot 50% from the field and 50% from behind-the-arc, but KSU did not go away quietly. The Owls went 19-38 from the field and 3-8 from beyond-the-arc, while outscoring the Panthers 51-43 in the second half. FIU held on however, as the Panthers claimed the 84-81 victory.
Andrews closed out the win with 20 points to lead all Panther players. Osasumwen Osaghae followed closely behind with 18 points, and the senior also logged five rebounds and four blocked shots.

The FIU men's basketball program welcomes back its alumni to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 18, for the Panthers' game against Middle Tennessee. Tipoff from the Conference USA clash is set for 7 p.m. ET. The 2019-2020 campaign marks the 25th anniversary of the banner season, which resulted in the program's first NCAA appearance.
