The Basics
- The FIU men's basketball team looked to win back-to-back games for the first time since November, however that will now have to wait as UTSA handed the Panthers a 100-67 loss at the UTSA Convocation Center in San Antonio on Thursday night. The loss was the Panthers' worst of the season. FIU drops to 14-10 on the year and 5-6 in Conference USA, while the Roadrunners improve to 14-10 overall and 8-3 in league play.

Devon Andrews (Lorain, Ohio) and
Brian Beard, Jr. (Rancho Cucamonga, California) each scored a team-high 14 points, while
Phillip Smith (Potomac, Maryland) scored a career-high eight points.
Osasumwen Osaghae (Miami, Florida) led the Panthers with a team-high nine rebounds.Â

- UTSA came out of the locker room on fire in the first half using a 15-2 run to start the game and take control early on. The Roadrunners would never let FIU into the contest extending their lead to as many as 23 points in the first stanza, before taking a 50-30 lead into the locker room at the break. UTSA would push the lead to as many as 33 points, 80-47, in the second half, while outscoring the Panthers, 50-37 in the final 20 minutes.

- FIU finished the game shooting 40.0 percent from the field (26-for-65) while UTSA shot an impressive 58.0 percent (40-for-69) from the floor.

The Panthers close out their two-game trip to Texas on Feb. 9, when they travel to El Paso to face UTEP ... Game time is 9 p.m. ET ... FIU will return home for its final two games before Conference USA Bonus Play begins, taking on Rice on Feb. 14, and North Texas on Feb. 16 ...
