MIAMI (March 13, 2019) – The FIU softball team fell to visiting Notre Dame on Wednesday, as the Panthers dropped an 8-0 decision to the Irish.
With the loss, FIU falls to 17-9 on the year, while Notre Dame improves to 15-7 on the year after taking its ninth-straight game. The Panthers will open C-USA action on Saturday, March 16 with a doubleheader against WKU at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., before closing out the weekend against the Hilltoppers at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
FIU's
Megan Kugelmann took the loss in the circle, after allowing four runs in six innings of work. Notre Dame's Payton Tidd earned the win to improve to 7-3 on the season, after pitching five scoreless innings and allowing just two hits on the night.
At the plate,
Jackie Schoff earned FIU's only two hits after singling in the first and third innings on Wednesday night.
The game was just a 1-0 margin through five innings, before the Irish plated three runs in the top half of the sixth following a pair of RBI singles. The Irish scored four more runs in the seventh following a pair of homers from Notre Dame to close the final margin at 8-0.

FIU hosts WKU on March 16-17 as the Panthers and Hilltoppers open C-USA action with a doubleheader on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET and 6:00 p.m. ET, before capping off the weekend on Sunday at noon.
