BOCA RATON, Florida (March 31, 2019) – In the longest game played since the Panthers joined Conference USA, the FIU baseball team fell in 15 innings to FAU by a score of 4-3.
The Panthers enter the second part of the longest road trip of the season at 11-17 (2-7 C-USA), while FAU sits at 19-9 (8-1 CUSA) in 2019.
Michael Schuler of FAU was handed the victory after pitching the top of the 15th.
Everett Hurst takes the loss after only allowing two this and striking out two Owls in three plus innings of relief work.
The Panthers set a season-high with 14 hits scattered across the 15 innings.
Logan Allen led the FIU bats, going four-for-six with a RBI. Allen finished the afternoon only lacking a triple to complete the cycle.

Javier Valdes, and
Jose Garcia each had a pair of hits on the day.
Kaeber Rog also had two hits on afternoon including his first-career base knock in the third.
Allen, playing first base, started the scoring in the second inning with a no-doubter over the left field wall for his first home run of the season. Rog scored in the third when Valdes singled to left to push the Panther lead to 2-0.
FAU evened the score by plating one run in the fourth and fifth innings. Not to be out done by Allen, Garcia homered to left for his third of the season to give the lead back to FIU.
The Owls scored in the eighth with a double to right that scored an one-out walk and tied the game at 3-all.
FIU threatened in the 11th and 14th before FAU plated the winning run in the 15th on a double to left that brought around a leadoff single.

The Panthers head to the Lone Star State for the rest of the road swing. FIU's tour of the Space City starts with Houston on April 3rd before action moves across town to Rice for a three-game weekend series.
