FIU Volleyball Signs Miami-Dade College Standout Fiorela Murillo

MIAMI (April 16, 2019) – FIU volleyball coach Rita Buck-Crockett announced the signing of Fiorela Murillo (Cali, Colombia/Miami-Dade College/Colegio Tecnice Comercial Sants Maria Goretty) to a National Letter of Intent. Murillo is expected to make an immediate impact during the 2019 campaign.

"Fiorela is a marquee player and this powerhouse will add to where we left off last year," said Buck-Crockett. "She will be a major threat in Conference USA. We are excited to have her on our side."

A 5-foot-10 middle blocker/outside hitter, Murillo helped guide the Sharks to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship match for the second-straight year, along with a 32-2 record during the 2018 season. She averaged 2.4 kills and 2.0 digs-per-set, and had a 25.5 percent hitting percentage in 33 matches. She was third on the team in total kills (233) and fifth in total digs (191).

As a freshman, Murillo, and Miami-Dade, recorded a perfect 34-0 record en route to their second-straight NJCAA National Championship.

For her efforts she is a two-time FSCAA All-Conference selection in 2017 and 2018.
