MIAMI (May 1, 2019) –
Christian Santana's career-outing lifted the FIU baseball team to a 2-0 midweek victory over Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday night.
The Panthers improve to 19-25 before returning to Conference USA action on Friday. Bethune-Cookman falls to 16-32 on the season.
Santana pitched eight innings of six-hit scoreless ball for the win. The big righty struck out a career-best 10 batters, while sitting down 15-straight Wildcats at one point. Alec Mendez suffered the loss.
Austin Shenton extended his hit-streak to 17 games with a RBI single to score
Luis Chavez, who had two hits on the night, in the home half of the third for a 1-0 FIU lead. The 17 games is the longest streak by a Panthers since FIU joined C-USA before the 2014 season.
Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. clubbed his third homer of the season in the fourth. It was Hampton's first round tripper since March 9th to give FIU a 2-0 lead.
Christian Dearman pitched a clean ninth inning for his first career-save in a Panther uniform.

FIU closes the longest homestand of the season with a three-game weekend set with UAB. Friday's first pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. at FIU Baseball Stadium.
