7/24/2019 11:24:00 AM

MIAMI (July 24, 2019) - Next up in our Q&A series with FIU football is defensive back, Stantley Thomas-Oliver III. The senior had a breakout year last season after becoming a lockdown corner for the Panther secondary.

Thomas-Oliver was named to the Conference USA Honorable Mention Team last year, after starting in the final 11 games for the Panthers. The corner logged one interception and a team-high 10 pass breakups in 2018, recording 40 tackles overall. Thomas-Oliver III is now preparing for his final season at FIU, as he took time to sit down with FIUSports.com for a little back-and-forth Q&A.

Q: What's it like playing for Coach Butch Davis?
A: "The best. No one prepares you for every moment of a game like he does, he's a great teacher."

Q: What was your favorite moment from last season?
A: The WKU game felt unbelievable. I didn't even realize everything I did until after the game."

Q: Who is the toughest to cover in practice?
A: "Austin Maloney. He's too fast, once he's past you, might as well strike up the band."

Q: What former or current NFL player did you model your game after and why?
A: "Richard Sherman. His football IQ, mentality and confidence are things I love about his game."

Q: How would you describe Miami to an outsider?
A: "Big city, bright lights, and fast paced. You have to be prepared for anything. One of the best cities in the country."

Q: Describe your fashion style
A: "Relaxed and comfortable. I'm always in pajamas basically."

Q: Favorite food establishment in Miami?
A: "Miro's food truck on campus, they have the best tenders and fries!"

Q: What would your rap name be?
A: "Alcatraz 3000."
