MIAMI (Aug. 29, 2019) – The FIU women's soccer team heads back to Miami for its home opener Friday, as the Panthers host Jacksonville University at FIU Soccer Stadium.
The Panthers and Dolphins are set to face off at 11:00 a.m. ET. The game was originally set for 2 p.m. ET, but inclement weather forced the game to move up.

The Eagles finished last season 1-14-1, earning a 0-7-0 mark on the road.
INSIDE THE SERIES
JU leads the all-time series 5-2-0 against FIU, with the Panthers' two wins coming in 2017 and 2012. FIU earned a 1-0 victory in Jacksonville two seasons ago against the Dolphins.
NEWCOMER DEBUTS
Eight Panthers have made their first appearances this season as members of FIU, with Ellen Halseth, Sydney Amparo, Anyeli Solarte, Yolanda Albalat Collado, Laura Chavez, Carmen Marin, Andrea Rivas, and Charity O' Neal all seeing the pitch for the first time while wearing the Blue & Gold. Additionally, freshman newcomer Halseth and junior transfer Yolanda Albalat Collado both earned their first starts in the second match of the season against Jacksonville State.
LEADING THE PANTHERS
Junior Sierra Moss and junior transfer Yolanda Albalat Collado pace the Panthers in minutes thus far, with 180 and 136, respectively. Redshirt junior Ashley Adams leads FIU in shots on goal (2), while four other Panthers have contributed one apiece. Second-year goalkeeper Christina Velazquez leads the Panthers in saves, with eight total on the season.

UP NEXT
After concluding their home opener, the Panthers will be back at home the following weekend to host North Florida on Friday, Sep. 6 at 7 p.m. ET, followed by another home match against Dartmouth on Sunday, Sep. 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
