MIAMI (Sept. 19, 2019) - The Panthers travel to our nation's capital for a trio of matches at Georgetown University this weekend, as the FIU volleyball team takes part in the Hoya Invitational on Sept. 20-21.

FIU heads into the weekend on a five-match winning streak, sporting a 5-3 record. The Panthers will face Binghamton first on Friday at 10:00 a.m., before taking on Morgan State at 3:00 p.m. The invitational concludes with FIU going head-to-head with the Georgetown Hoya's on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

SCOUTING BINGHAMTON 
Binghamton enters the weekend in search of its first win of the 2019 season. Plagued by a 0-9 start to the season, the Bearcats are led by Frances Ulate who owns 72 kills and 21 service aces. Audrey Haworth follows her with 50 kills and is third on the team with 54 digs.

SCOUTING MORGAN STATE
Morgan State sports a 5-5 mark on the year, after dropping its last three matches on the road in Oregon. Morgan State was picked to finish third in the north division of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) preseason poll, after finishing last season 13-15 overall and 5-5 in league action. 

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
The hosting Hoya's rock a 6-4 overall record overall with recent wins over Iona, UNC-Greensboro and William and Mary at the 2019 Colonial Classic. Georgetown comes into the weekend with Big East honors after an undefeated weekend. Iva Vujosevic opened the weekend with eight kills and 11 digs against Iona before adding 10 kills to go along with her nine digs against UNCG. In her final match against W&M, she posted her third double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs.

2018 RECAP
The 2018 FIU indoor volleyball season featured one of the program's most triumphant campaigns in recent memory as the team posted a 19-12 overall record to go along with a 9-5 mark in Conference USA play. The 19 wins marked the highest victory total for the program since 2011 when that year's squad recorded a total of 21 wins. The Panthers finished the regular season sixth overall in the Conference USA standings, but got hot at the perfect time, performing excellently in the conference tournament and reaching their first-ever C-USA Championship match.
