WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 20, 2019) - The opening day of the Hoya Invitational is in the books, as FIU volleyball picked up two more victories in the win column after taking down Binghamton (3-0) and Morgan State (3-1).
FIU extends its winning streak to seven matches and improves to 7-3 overall, while Binghamton and Morgan State both drop to 0-10 and 5-7, respectively. FIU earned a 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 victory over Binghamton, before taking a 22-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-16 match against Morgan State.Â
In the first match, the Panthers were led by
Sidney Henderson who tallied 10 kills, while
Abbie Hughes picked up another double-double following a 29-assist, 10 dig performance.Â
After rallying for three-straight set victories, the Panthers picked up their second win of the afternoon against Morgan State. Henderson nabbed a double-double for the Panthers after a 17-kill, 10-dig match. Hughes followed her lead with another double-double of her own after earning 42 assists and 13 digs, while
Lina Bernier tied a career-high with 25 digs.
