MIAMI (Sept. 6, 2019) - The FIU women's soccer team fell to North Florida on Friday night, as the Panthers couldn't overcome the Eagles home after falling 3-1.
With the loss, FIU falls to 1-3 on the year, while UNF improves to 4-0-1 on the season.
The two squads were scoreless for nearly 56 minutes, before
Laura Chavez chipped in a goal on an assist by
Yolanda Albalat Collado to put the Panthers out front 1-0. The Eagles bounced back minutes later to equalize the game at 1-1 in the 63rd minute, before going ahead 2-1 in the 72nd minute after a score from Kendra Hoffman. With time nearly expired, the Eagles scored for a third time as UNF's Thais Reiss put in a goal unassisted with just 22 seconds remaining in the game.
The goal for Chavez was her first for FIU, while the assist for Albalat was also the first of her Panther career.

FIU returns home this Sunday, as the Panthers host Dartmouth at 12:00 p.m. ET. FIU will hit the road for three-straight to follow, before returning back to Miami to host Charlotte on Sept. 26 at 7:00 p.m.
