MIAMI (Dec. 21, 2020) – The FIU women's basketball team's valiant effort fell just short on Monday afternoon, as the Panthers dropped the series finale 80-66 to FGCU.
Coming off the bench,
Jiselle Thomas led all Panthers with 18 points. Joining Thomas in double figures,
Fujika Nimmo scored 14 with
Kyla Nelson added 12 more.
Alma Danielsson grabbed a season-high 10 boards for the Panthers to go along with her six points.
In a very reminiscent script to the series opener on Sunday, FIU held tight for the first half before entering the break only down one at 34-33. The pivotal stretch came in the third quarter when FGCU went on a 12-4 run to stay ahead for good.
The Panthers will have the holidays off before opening Conference USA play on New Year's Day at Old Dominion.
