MIAMI (Feb. 16, 2020) - The FIU women's tennis team fell to Memphis 4-3 at home on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Panthers drop to 3-2 overall and cap the three-week homestand.

The Panthers and Tigers kicked off the match with doubles action, with UM taking the doubles point following wins on courts two and three. The Panther duo of Kamila Umarova and Basak Akbas left their match unfinished at 4-4 on court one. 

Kristina Miletic answered back for FIU in singles play however, after defeating her Tiger foe, 6-3, 6-2. The Panthers fell behind once again after dropping court three, before Akbas would tie it up at 2-2 following her 7-6 (1-0), 6-3 win on court four. 

UM would go on to clinch the match after back-to-back wins on courts two and six. Umarova fought for nearly two and a half hours to earn her three-set victory, as the Panther won a 6-7(3-7), 6-3, 10-7 match on court one to bring the final score to 4-3.
