DALLAS (Feb. 20, 2020) - Sophomore
Maha Gouda was named to the Conference USA Swimming and Diving All-Academic team, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Members are selected by a vote of the league's academic advisors, highlighted by a pair of returning selections from last year's squad and four schools being represented. In order to qualify for nomination to the team, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and serve as a key competitor of their respective team.
The Alexandria, Egypt native maintains a 3.98 GPA as a public relations, advertising and applied communications major. Only in her second year at FIU, she qualified for the Olympics on Dec. 18 at the African Games and at the Egyptian National Competition Dec. 26-28, she posted a lifetime best score from the 10-meter platform. Gouda has been named C-USA Diver of the Week four times this season.
As a freshman she was recognized as the 2019 C-USA Diver of the Year and picked up seven first-place finishes during the 2019-2020 campaign. She posted an eighth-place finish (270.55) from the platform at last year's NCAA Championships and became the youngest All-American in program history. Gouda was named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team as well and was also recognized on the 2018-19 C-USA Academic Honor Roll List.
