HUNTINGTON, West Virginia (Feb. 22, 2020) - The FIU women's tennis team earned its first Conference USA win of the year, as the Panthers downed North Texas on the road, 4-3.
Saturday's match was played in Huntington, West Virginia, ahead of Sunday's contest against Marshall. With the win, the Panthers move to 4-2 on the year.
Francisca Vergara clinched Saturday's win, with a 6-1, 6-4 result on court six.
Kamila Umarova and
Basak Akbas each went undefeated in doubles and singles action on Saturday as the doubles pair downed their foes, 7-6(7-0), before each taking a straight-set win in singles play.
UP NEXT
The Panthers are back on the court Sunday, Feb. 23 to take on Marshall. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. ET.
